Spurs 2 Huddersfield 0

A second brace in four days from Heung-Min Son was the difference between the sides as we beat Huddersfield Town at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Following his two goals against Rochdale in the FA Cup in midweek, the South Korean forward scored one in each half to secure the three points against the Terriers, who defended stoutly all afternoon but were ultimately beaten by two smart finishes from Son, who now has 15 for the season.

We were in control for the majority of the match and probably could have won by more on another day. Harry Kane was denied at close-range by Jonas Lossl and Christian Eriksen’s deflected free-kick hit the post while he too was denied by the Terriers goalkeeper as we dominated the first half. We broke the deadlock on 27 minutes when Dele Alli threaded a delightful ball through for Son, who skipped past Lossl and tucked home.

After the break Kane again went close, only for the sliding Christopher Schindler to deny him, before the visitors, who struggled throughout to create clear-cut chances, forced Hugo Lloris into a fine save to keep out Tom Ince’s 20-yard drive.

Our second arrived on 54 minutes, Kane the provider with a wonderful cross which bounced up perfectly for Son to head back across goal and into the net to settle the outcome and stretch our unbeaten run to 17 games in all competitions.
